KIRSTEN POTTS
Kirsten is a freelance Director of Photography and Camera Operator with a documentary verite-style. Their passion to be behind the lens dates back to middle school when they got their first cell phone with a video camera - spending their time creating snowboard, trampoline, and cliff jumping edits.
Over the past decade, they discovered their love for 35mm and 120mm film photography because of the process' intimate nature. Many of their large scale prints are shot in this format.
Attending Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont Kirsten graduated with a BS degree in Broadcast Media Production with a specialization in Moving Image (film & video). Senior year, they released their first documentary short film, Growing A Vision, that was accepted into the Vermont PBS Made Here Showcase, New England Chapter of NATAS, Freedom & Unity Young Filmmaker Contest, and American Documentary and Animation Festival. This documentary is a story of growth, experimentation and natural succession of wild wetlands within Vermont's growing cannabis landscape.
After obtaining their degree, Kirsten relocated to Vail, Colorado to chase the snow and love for snowboarding. Kirsten worked for Vail Resorts as a Photographer and freelanced at Capture The Action Video Productions. During this time, many projects that they shot and/or edited were based in documentary storytelling for local non-profits and organizations. A few notable clients are the Vail Valley Foundation, Sacred Cycle, The Cycle Effect, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and The Bright Future Foundation.
Currently living in Queens, New York, Kirsten works on a wide variety of film, video, and commercial production projects as a DP, Camera Op, and AC. A few notable clients are Condé Nast brands, Bon Appétit, Epicurious, and Vogue, MTV News, MTV, BuzzFeed, Lego, and multiple New York City production companies. Within the snowboard industry, Kirsten has worked with Snowboy Productions, We're all Mental, The Burton Chill Foundation, Novella film, and Park Affair. Currently they are in the post production process of their upcoming snowboard street film, Glitter, presented by Park Affair and sponsored by Red Bull, K2, Giro, and Union Bindings premiering Fall 2025. In Kirsten's career their goal is to work on projects with a greater emphasis on the outdoor industry and social impact.
